•Entebbe UPPC 0-1 Lugazi
•SC Villa 2-0 Express
Lugazi stunned Entebbe UPPC in a closely contested Uganda Premier League game at Nakivubo on Wednesday.
The Leaders took the lead in the 82nd minute when Cromwell Rwothomio ran onto Frank Mulimi’s free-kick before bundling the ball into the net.
Lugazi held on to secure their second win of the season, having beaten Kigezi HomeBoyz 2-1 in the league opener.
The Leaders came into the match reeling from a 3-1 defeat to NEC at Lugogo but bounced back with a determined display.
Lugazi coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko praised his players for responding well to the defeat.
“It was a hard game, but we strategised really well. After losing to NEC, we went back and rectified the mistakes we made, and I’m happy that the boys played to the instructions,” Kikomeko said.
“I am happy with the character and resilience they showed, which helped us win the game.”
It was a disappointing result for Entebbe UPPC, who had beaten Vipers 1-0 at Kitende before edging UPDF 2-1.
