Police boost squad ahead of UPDF Clash

Police Football Club have added further firepower to their squad as they prepare for Thursday’s Uganda Premier League encounter against UPDF FC at the Kira Road Police Arena.

The Cops began the season with a 1-0 victory over Mbarara City but were beaten by the same scoreline against Blacks Power on Matchday Two.

With the ‘Battle of Forces’ next on the schedule, Police have completed the signing of striker Sam Ssekamatte and defender Najib Fesali, both on three-year contracts.

Ssekamatte arrives from NEC FC with a wealth of experience, having previously played for BUL FC, UPDF FC, Red Arrows and Al Jawaish FC. He is expected to strengthen a forward line that already features Bedia Ikamba, Marko Teny, Charles Bbaale and Lawrence Tezikya.

Fesali, who has been playing in India, also returns with considerable experience from spells at Kyaggwe, URA FC and BUL FC. His arrival provides additional options in defence alongside Deus Bukenya, Daniel Jakony, Benon Tahomera and new signing Patrick Kagulire.

Police have been active in the transfer market as they seek to improve on last season’s showing and mount a stronger challenge for the league title.

The club has also recruited midfielder Siraje Ssentamu from NEC FC, goalkeeper Shukuru Hadji from Calvary, Ivan Mayanja and Rogers Kiwanuka from Maroons, as well as Ojok Junior Emmanuel among other additions.

Head coach Mathias Lule will hope the new arrivals can make an immediate impact when Police face UPDF in Thursday’s highly anticipated clash.
