SC Villa’s Zeljko expects tough encounter against BUL

•SC Villa Vs BUL – Wankulukuku, 4pm
•Buhimba Vs Express – Butema
•Vipers Vs URA – Kitende, 8pm

SC Villa head coach Zeljko Kovacevic expects a tough contest against BUL FC when the two sides face off in a Uganda Premier League encounter today at Wankulukuku Stadium.

The Jogoos have temporarily relocated from Mutesa II Stadium Wankulukuku after their usual home ground, Kadiba Stadium, was taken over by the Uganda women’s national football team ahead of Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Ghana.

SC Villa return to Wankulukuku, which served as their home ground last season.

The Jogoos head into the fixture full of confidence after a 2-0 victory over URA FC in the first leg of the Uganda Cup semifinal.

However, Villa suffered a 2-0 defeat to Kitara FC in Hoima in their most recent league outing and will be eager to bounce back.

“We have to put up a strong show because all the players are available. We have no injuries or suspensions,” said Kovacevic.

“BUL will not come to play an easy game. They will come to show us that they are a good team, so I expect a fight from them.”

SC Villa are fourth on the table with 51 points, eight behind leaders Vipers SC. KCCA FC and Kitara follow with 55 and 54 points respectively.

Despite the gap, Kovacevic remains optimistic about his side’s chances.

“We want to finish top, or if that is not possible, then settle for second,” he added.

BUL defeated SC Villa 2-1 in the reverse fixture at Njeru, with Reagan Mpande scoring Villa’s only goal between strikes from Alex Kitata and Nicholas Mwere.

The two sides also met in the Uganda Cup in February, with Villa progressing via a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw at Kadiba.

BUL, currently eighth with 34 points, come into the match following a 1-0 home defeat to NEC FC.
