The Inbound Podcast team has emphasised the importance of a strong working relationship between the newly formed Uganda Basketball Players Association (UBPA), the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) and the clubs if the players’ body is to make a meaningful impact.
The team of Brian Kawalya, Felix Eupal and Stella Nikuze noted that constructive engagement with the key stakeholders would be crucial in addressing players’ concerns, protecting their rights and improving their welfare while contributing to the continued growth of basketball in Uganda.
UBPA, led by president Paul Odong, was established to give players a stronger collective voice, promote professional development and champion player-centred initiatives, including support for athletes beyond their competitive careers.
The association also launched the 2026 UBPA All-Star Basketball Fest, scheduled for October 9 as part of its After The Buzzer campaign under the theme “Life Beyond the Court.”
The initiative will focus on issues including mental wellbeing, education, financial preparedness and career development after retirement from competitive sport.
The Inbound Podcast discussion highlighted the need for collaboration among players, the federation, clubs and other stakeholders to ensure that UBPA delivers on its mandate and becomes an effective platform for representing and empowering basketball players in Uganda.
