Uganda and hosts Tanzania have reached the final of the 2026 CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship after winning their respective semi-final matches played at KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Uganda Teen Cranes booked their place in the final with a convincing 3-0 victory over Kenya in the first semi-final.
Coach Sheryl Ulanda Botes’ side continued their perfect run in the tournament with another disciplined performance.
Shadia Nabirye put Uganda in front in the sixth minute after pouncing on a defensive error to finish past goalkeeper Mishel Ng’ono.
Uganda doubled their lead just before halftime when Immaculate Achen converted from close range to make it 2-0.
Kenya attempted a response in the second half with several substitutions, but Uganda’s defence remained compact and limited their attacking threat.
The win was sealed in added time when Kenya defender Jael Simiyu scored an own goal from a Ugandan corner.
Coach Botes praised her team after the match, saying they were pleased to reach the final after winning all their group matches and the semi-final. She added that the players were looking forward to facing Tanzania in the final.

The result also served as revenge for Uganda, who had been eliminated by Kenya in the third round of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers last month.
Tanzania overpower South Sudan
Hosts Tanzania joined Uganda in the final after a dominant 4-0 win over South Sudan in the second semi-final.
Bahat Kizanguzi and Harrier Juma gave Tanzania a 2-0 lead at halftime as the hosts controlled possession and created several chances.
South Sudan tried to tighten their midfield after the break through Gal Adhel and Amel Achuil, but they struggled to contain the flowing Tanzanian attack.
Yasinta Kaluwa extended the lead to 3-0 in the 57th minute before Kizanguzi scored her second goal of the match in the 78th minute to complete the 4-0 victory.
The final between Uganda and Tanzania will be played on Tuesday, June 23 in Dar es Salaam.
